Setup a Website
Imagine your online store as a house. When building a house, you need to lay the foundation before you can start adding all the trim and decor.
Below I’ll cover the steps of setting up your website using WordPress as “The Foundation”
Get a business email to set everything up on first
support@YOURDOMAIN.com (this is an example it doesn’t have to say support)
You can buy a gmail business account so you look more professional for $5.64 USD dollars per month as of writing this.
This can be done by going here → https://workspace.google.com/intl/en_ca/pricing.html
Installing WordPress
If you’re hosting your website with a company like Namehero ($8.95 USD / monthly), you’ll be able to use their cPanel to easily install WordPress.
Think of the cPanel as the blueprint for your website. It’s where you’ll be able to see all the different components and tools that work in the backend. (lots of them you’ll never have to know or use)
You’ll need to locate your Cpanel within your hosting platform.
Just ask for support from your hosting company if you can’t find it.
Within your Cpanel, you’ll want to look for the Softaculous WordPress Installer.
This handy tool will help you set up WordPress in just a few clicks.
Simply follow the prompts to install WordPress and create your login information.
It’s important to choose a strong username and password to keep your website secure.
Log into your website by going to www.YOURWEBSITE.com/wp-admin
The password and user you used when creating the site with Softaculous will be the same login to your website admin account.
You’ll want to install the proper theme based on what you’re looking for but if you’re building the website from scratch with elementor use Hello theme, or Astra is highly recommended.
Before you start building your website, it’s important to keep search engine optimization (SEO) and user experience (UI/UX) in mind.
